Geography Games
Teams face off in geography trivia, Geoguessr challenges, and other games during meetings.
Field Trips
We take trips to map collections, museums, and consulates around Chicago.
Guest Lectures
Guest speakers from geography and spatial science give talks they've prepared for the club.
Career & Skill Development
UCGEO alumni and professors talk about their careers, and hands-on tutorials teach the GIS software used in spatial science jobs.

Origins
About
UCGEO was founded in 2022, when there were few geography opportunities for students, especially after the College cancelled its Geography major. The club has grown fast since then.
Our weekly meetings usually draw 25 to 35 students, some of them lifelong geography fans and some just curious about the world. Either way, it's a good place to meet people and learn how much geography shows up in everyday life.
Our biggest events are semi-monthly student delegation trips to Chicagoland consulates, campus-wide geography tournaments, and geography simulations. And of course, we celebrate at the end of every quarter!

UCGEO is open to all University of Chicago undergraduates interested in geography and spatial science. You don't need any experience with geography or GIS. Just bring your curiosity!
